Here are some essays that I've written during my undergradate time at Stanford:
This paper explores the generational differences between Filipino Americans and how they perceive their identity. Three Filipino-American subjects were interviewed: a woman born in the U.S. in her mid 20s, and an elderly couple in their mid 70s who immigrated to the U.S. in the 1960s. From comparing their responses, sociological conclusions about the influence of society on identity were drawn.
Resistance is integral to Filipino history. For hundreds of years, the Filipino people have resisted colonization from multiple countries. Now, Filipinos and Filipino Americans come together to stand up against imperialism, poverty and exploitation. In this paper, I discuss the strategies used by activists today and how they were influenced by past revolutionaries fighting for independence.
